REFERENCE GUIDES
Store Heat, Release Steam
An accumulator stores energy mainly in pressurised hot water. Steam heats the water during charging; a pressure reduction allows some water to flash into steam during discharge.
When Is It Relevant?
Batch heating, cooking or sterilisation can create short demand peaks. An accumulator may buffer these peaks, but cannot replace boiler capacity needed for a sustained load.
Prepare the Demand Profile
Record average demand, peak demand, peak duration and frequency, and allowable pressures. Capacity and pressure-vessel requirements need project-specific engineering review.
